About Cellulite
More than 85% of women struggle with the skin condition know as cellulite. And contrary to popular belief, cellulite may appear despite a healthy diet and regular exercise. Regardless of age, many women are simply predisposed to having cellulite. Genetic make up, hormones, vascular changes, and inflammation may all contribute to the condition of the skin. In other words, cellulite is not your fault!
Women more often suffer from cellulite because their subcutaneous fat layer (shown below) is separated by thin vertical columns of collagen, as opposed to the cross-cross network found in men. Over time these columns become inflexible and allow protrusions of the enlarged fat cells to be far more visible on the surface of the skin. This potrusions cause an outward appearance that looks much like an orange peel or cottage cheese. |
